Urethane is breathable . The type of sheets you use play a huge role in how cool you sleep. Microfiber & flannel don’t breath, so sleep hot. Higher tread count sheets don’t breath as well as lower thread counts. I use percale 300 thread sheets, as they are most recommend for cooler sleeping. I haven’t noticed sleeping hot with this cover, which I use on my Tempur Pedic bed
This goes under your regular bedding. It protects the mattress from spills. If you need extra padding, I suppose you could use it with a mattress pad.
One of the reasons nearly everyone in our family has one is that they do NOT make crinkly noises.
They also wash well and dry well – if you put them in the dryer with your sheets. If you dry it by itself, it will take three or four cycles.

I washed it in warm water all by itself ~ that’s what the instructions said to do. Dried in dryer same way on Medium heat.
